Education: Dr. Parker graduated from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1982. His special areas of interest are Orthopedic and Radio Surgery and Veterinary Chiropractic. Dr. Parker is now Board Certified in Veterinary Chiropractic. Family/Pets: Dr. Parker and his wife Lisa have two children, Jonathan and Christyn. They share their home with seven pets: Two Shelties; Gracie and Aloha and four cats; Madison, India, Neo and Ariel.
Education: Dr. Cooper attended Union University for her undergraduate work in biology. She was then accepted to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in May of 2004. Family/Pets: Dr. Cooper has been married since 2003. She snd her husband have one mixed breed dog named Jax. They have been recently blessed to have a new daughter, Kaelyn Isabella. Hobbies: Dr. Cooper loves to scrapbook and also enjoys camping, fishing, boating, hiking and traveling within the US as well as abroad.
Education: Dr. Morse attended high school at Evangelical Christian School in Cordova. After finishing his undergraduate degree at Mississippi State University, Dr. Morse graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2001. He grew up in Germantown, TN and has been working in the area since vet school. His special interests include dermatology, ophthalmology, internal medicine and soft tissue surgery. Family/Pets: Dr. Morse is married and has three sons, Andrew and twins, Thomas and Win. They share their home with a cat named Bob and a dog named Luna. Hobbies: When not at work, Dr. Morse enjoys spending time with his family, playing the piano, reading, playing soccer and fishing (though not frequently enough).
Education: Dr. Ray earned his veterinary degree from Mississippi State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. He also has advanced education in Ultrasound, Orthopedics and Dentistry. Dr. Ray is currently teaching at Mississippi State University and works with Shelby Center Hospital for Animals one weekend a month. Family/Pets: Dr. Ray is married to Catherine. They have three children: Joel, Mary Catherine, and Taylor. Their pets include dogs, cats, and a horse. Hobbies: Dr. Ray enjoys spending time with his family, any outdoor or water sport, and physical training. He also enjoys traveling, history, reading, and working in his yard and rose garden. Suzanne Whistler, D.V.M.Time with SCHA: 2 Years Education: Graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. Family/Pets: Dr. Whistler has been happily married to Steve for 13 years. They have two children, Rachel and Jonathan and a Sheltie named Scarlet. Hobbies: Dr. Whistler enjoys reading and gardening.
Education: Dr. Wright graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. She previously practiced at Hickory Ridge Animal Hospital (now called Southwind) and Collierville Pet Hospital. Family/Pets: Dr. Wright and her husband Les, have two sons, Jared and Joshua. Their pets include an Australian Shepherd named Maggie, Skeeter the cat, and a Cockatiel named Scuttles. Hobbies: Dr. Wright's hobbies include teaching her sons singing and playing the guitar, piano, autoharp, and dulcimer. She also enjoys reading and biking. Carolyn Theobald, Administrative Assistant Education: Carolyn has a degree from Memphis State University in Education, as well as being an RN for the last 23 years. She volunteered for three years as a veterinary assistant prior to becoming an Administrative Assistant in December 1998. Family/Pets: Carolyn has been married for 17 years. She and her husband have three dogs and many Persian cats. Hobbies: Carolyn's hobbies include cooking, gardening, reading and needle work. Wendy Durham, Assistant to the CEO, Director of Marketing and Human Resources. Education: Wendy has a B.S. In Marketing from Christian Brothers University with a minor in Psychology. She also worked previously at Shelby Center for three years as a veterinary assistant. Family/Pets: Wendy is a single mother of a four year old daughter, Mary Bella. Hobbies: Wendy and her daughter spend their free time at the Children's Museum, the zoo and the pool. Whenever she gets the chance, Wendy also likes to listen to live music and go dancing. During her quiet times, she also likes to read and work crossword puzzles. Wendy is also a jigsaw puzzle fanatic!
Amber Miller Education: Amber studied sociology at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, OH. Family/Pets: Amber is happily married to Sean and they share their home with four dogs, K.C. the beagle, Tess the lab, Romeo the longhair Chihuahua and Joey the Wonder Mutt. They also have five cats, Tink, Widget, Scruffy, and the newest additions, Flash and Thunder (the War Kittens), as well as a variety of fish. Hobbies: Amber enjoys many activities including but not limited to reading, scrapbooking, social networking, needlepoint, camping, and gardening. She also enjoys sand and surf, and has a love for all animals. CC Tagavilla Education: CC received a Bachelor's of Science degree in Accounting from State Tech, but she has chosen a different path! Family/Pets: CC lives in Brighton with her husband, Roger, and their seven year old daughter, Cameron (a.k.a. "Bug"). They also have four cats: Chevy, Squirt, Chubbs and Oppossum, and three dogs: Heidi, Tiny and ChiChi. Hobbies: CC enjoys découpage, drag racing and her daughter's dance classes and recitals! Connie Hall Education: Connie graduated from Kingsbury High School and then became a licensed Cosmetologist. Family/Pets: Connie has two sons. Her oldest son Michael works for Nike, and her youngest son Brandon is 16 years old and likes to race dirt bikes. Connie has three Boxers; Roxanne, who is 10 years old and mother to Pebbles and Zeus, five year old littermates. Connie also has three other dogs, Chelsea, a Yorkie Poo who is her most precious angel and Chewie nine years old, who is Chelsea's dad. Connie's most recent addition is Slinky, a one year old Shih Tzu. Hobbies: Her hobbies include riding her 4 wheeler, watching her son race dirt bikes, and Nascar racing. She also enjoys boating and camping and landscaping. Jenny Malone Education: Jenny is currently attaining a Bachelor's degree in Business Management. She has a lifetime of hands-on experience with many pets throughout her life. She has also worked at a national chain pet store in addition to volunteering for Charlotte County Animal Welfare League in Port Charlotte, Fla. Family/Pets: Jenny has a precious eight year old daughter and together they have one dog, Lucaya, and six cats: Wilson, Schwartz, Thomas, Hermione, Crackle and Gloria. Hobbies: As if she has any time! Any extra time Jenny has is spent with her daughter and playing online games with her best friend from out of state. She also rescues helpless kittens, helps find them homes and feeds every stray on her block. Cats, cats, and more cats! Jessica Wright Education: Jessica has a Bachelor in Business Administration in Finance from Middle Tennessee State University Family/Pets: Jessica has been married to her husband Nathan for four years. They have three dogs, George, Lucy and O'Malley and five cats, Rajah, Zoe, Jake, Mia and Ace. Hobbies: Jessica's hobbies include softball and reading. Kristen Engle Education: Kristen graduated from ICHS (Immaculate Conception High School) and is currently a 3rd year radiology student at SWTCC. Previously, she worked at Austin Associates Animal Hospital from 1999-2003. Family/Pets: Kristen's family includes Russell, her sweet fiance, her mom, dad, and sister and her adorable nephew, Dean. Kristen's four-legged children are Rascal, Sasha, Picasso and Diego (all Chihuahuas), Keekers the cat, Bubblebob the blue Nile catfish and Oscar the emu in Mississippi. Hobbies: Kristen enjoys scuba diving, snorkling, traveling, scrapbooking, photography, dressing her dogs up, and lots and lots of shopping. She is currently decorating her home in a contemporary and 70's style! Patty McCord Family/Pets: Patty has two great children, a son Kris (who is married to Amanda, who blessed them with PRECIOUS grandbabies named Grace and Brody) and a daughter, Jenni, who is a blessing all by herself!!! Patty also has nine dogs, ranging in age from six to seventeen years, Dachshunds to Labs, all but two are rescue dogs. She also has three cats AND one pet steer! Yes, she lives on a farm! Hobbies: Patty doesn't really have much spare time for hobbies, but she used to do needlework and read. Now, her time is taken up with Grace and Brody, and the four-legged children. During the warm months, she spends a lot of time on the bushhog, which she really enjoys! Sonya Good Education: Sonya is a high school graduate. Family/Pets: Sonya is married to her wonderful husband, Buddy. They have two dogs, and Windy, and two cats, Abigail and Allie. Hobbies: Sonya is very active in her church and helps teach Vacation Bible School every year.
Andréa (On-dray-uh) Smith (soon to be Dillard) Education: Andréa spent one year at Ouachita Baptist University, and is now currently enrolled at University of Memphis in Early Childhood Education. Family/Pets: Andréa's family includes her fiance, Deke Dillard, her mom, Sherry Wakely and her brother, Austin Smith. She also has 2 dogs, Jed and Zeena and two cats, Trip and Hrothgar. Hobbies: Currently Andréa is busy planning for her wedding, but when time permits she also likes reading, music, movies and foreign languages. Bridgette Riddle Education: Bridgette has taken courses at Southwest Community College. She is certified in Medical Assistance through Tennessee Tech. Family/Pets: Bridgette shares her home with Loki the Pit Bull, Marilyn the Pomeranian, Chloe the Lab and Whiskers the kitty. Hobbies: Bridgette loves the outdoors and nature, riding dirt bikes, playing with animals, learning to play the piano and just having fun! Cary Gibson Education: Cary is a graduate of Bolton High School, Class of 2005. He currently a senior at the University of Tennessee, Martin working toward a B.S. in animal science. Family/Pets: When not at school, Cary lives with his parents, John and Becky and his brother Kirk. He also has three dogs, Gabbie, Mattie and Lucy and four cats, George, Cheeta, Juzzy and Ms. Rose. Hobbies: Cary's hobbies include video games, reading, watching movies, listening to music and sleeping when at all possible! Demeettree Tyler Education: Demeettree is a high school graduate who attended Tennessee State University. Family/Pets: Demeettree is happily married to Andre Tyler and together they have a son, Jonathan, and a daughter, Jocelyn, along with one fish, Azul(Blue). Hobbies: She likes to spend her time camping, dancing, shopping, and hanging out with her family. Jacenta Brandon Education: Jacenta graduated from Columbia State Community College Veterinary Technology Program May 2000. She is a Licensed Veterinary Medical Technician. Family/Pets: Jacenta has been married for 21 years to her husband, Kent. They have three children: Tyler - 20, Tiffany - 18, and Tanner - 14. She also has two dogs: Teiki (a seven-year-old Spitz), Laila (a four-year-boxer), and four cats: Sinatra - 18, Pippy Longtail - 12, Lil Fiesty - seven, and Obie - one. She also has Gary the chinchilla. Hobbies: Jacenta has little spare time because she also works part time for Dr. Dew at the Animal Emergency Center. Jacenta also has a great interest in the missionary field and has traveled to South Africa 3 times and will soon travel to Malawi. Jasmine Morris Education: Jasmine is a graduate of Central High School here in Memphis. Family/Pets: Jasmine and her daughter, Kennedie, share their home with Genesis, a domestic shorthaired cat. Hobbies: She enjoys reading and writing in her spare time, and she is always ready to learn new things. Jessie Lynn Sidle Education: Jessie is enrolled in canine Massage therapy and hopes to be certified very soon. Family/Pets: Jessie has been married for two years to her wonderful husband, Jason. They have two dogs, Dixie (a black lab) and Miracle (a Jack Russell). Hobbies: Jessie enjoys fishing, camping, and canoeing. Much of her spare time is spent rescuing baby squirrels that fall out of the nest. She and her husband also like to take the dogs to the lake and hiking every chance they get. Josh Harmon Education: Josh is a graduate of Germantown High School. Family/Pets: Josh shares his home with five cats, Huey, Oliver, Simone, Simon and Sebastian, and one dog, Dixie. Hobbies: Whenever possible Josh likes to play guitar, drums, bass and sing. He also enjoys fishing and video games. Kim Upshaw Education: Kim earned a BS in Agriculture from UT Martin in 1998. Family/Pets: Kim has been married to her wonderful husband, Ted, since January 2001. They have two daughters, Samantha and Emily. They live with a goofy black Lab named Buster and two cats, TJ and Emmy, who like to get into trouble. Hobbies: Kim enjoys singing in the church choir and playing the piano. Lisa Craig Education: Lisa is a high school graduate and is enrolled at Southwest Community College majoring in Science Arts. Since being at Shelby Center, she has been able to take a veterinary technician course in dentistry to become a certified dental technician. Family/Pets: Lisa and her 8-year-old daughter have one dog, Buck, a Golden Retriever. Hobbies: Lisa enjoys spending time with her daughter, traveling, going to the beach and exercising. Melissa Hendren Education: Melissa is currently enrolled in school for a degree in Laboratory Animal Technology. Family/Pets: Melissa lives at home with her parents, Ann and Steve, and her two brothers, Chris and Nick. She also has two dogs, Izzy and Rusty. Hobbies: Melissa enjoys gardening, music, boating and being with her friends and family. Mike McGhee ("Uncle Mike") Education: Mike graduated from high school in Newport, Ark and then obtained a degree from Harding University, majoring in Religion and Journalism. After 30 years in the human medical field, Mike has worked as a veterinary assistant for the last seven years. Family/Pets: He has been married to Trish for 16 years. They have one son, four dogs, Louis, Taz, Rudy and PepperJack, and a cat, Gretel. Hobbies: Mike enjoys music, photography, camping, hunting and fishing and gardening. Peggy Kinney Education: Peggy is a high school graduate. Peggy has worked as a Technician/Receptionist for three years. Family/Pets: While Peggy does not have pets of her own,she is an aunt to several of her family members' pets. Hobbies: In Peggy's spare time, she likes to nap and take walks. Rachel Sears Education/Experience: Rachel graduated from Germantown High School. She worked for Austin & Associates for several years while in high school and as a volunteer in middle school. Family/Pets: Rachel has a lab/pit bull mix named Chevy and a long hair tortie named SweetPea. Hobbies: Rachel likes doing arts and crafts, camping, enjoys outdoor activities, spending time with friends, watching movies and listening to music. Robbie Phillips Education: Robbie has earned a BA in Art History and Music History, AA in Performance , MA Directing and Performance, and AA in Social Services. She taught Drama at SUNY at Stony Brook, NY, Brooklyn Tech. and Mohave Community College. She has performed and directed professionally in New York, Ireland and Arizona and was a child abuse investigator prior to coming to Shelby Center. While at Shelby Center she became a certified Veterinary Dental Assistant. Family/Pets: Robbie met her husband, Kevin (a native Memphian) nine years ago via the Internet. Ten dates and one elopement later she relocated to Memphis from Arizona and has been happily married and happily employed ever since. They share their home with two dogs, six cats, three birds and one mouse. Hobbies: Robbie's hobbies include acting, writing, gardening, kayaking, roller coasters, cooking, decorating her home, and daily exercise.
Education/Experience: Tasha attended Millington Central High and began some classes at Southwest Community College. Family/Pets: Tasha shares her home with three dogs, (Princess, Thor, and Rebel) and two cats, Phoenix and Greasy. Hobbies: Tasha's hobbies include driving cars and motorcycles, listening to music, drawing, cooking and watching football and baseball.
Laura Walker Education: Laura is a high school graduate. She has experience as a property manager for an apartment community and as an office manager for a construction company. Family/Pets: Laura has one daughter. In her free time, Laura also takes care of her five parakeets, two cockatiels, an Amazon parrot and a Macaw, as well as a 150 gallon aquarium. Hobbies: Laura enjoys cooking, fishing and camping. Madison Barber Education: Madison is in her senior year at White Station High School Family/Pets: Madison lives at home and has three dogs, Hershey, adopted from Memphis Humane Society, Sampson, adopted from the animal shelter, and Marley, a 3-month-old stray she rescued. Hobbies: Madison has enjoyed playing rugby for the last three years and is interested in veterinary medicine. Rachel Hannah Barnes Education: Rachel graduated from Faith Heritage Christian Academy and will be attending Bethel College in the fall. Family/Pets: Rachel lives at home with her parents, Amanda and Billy and her younger brother, Wesley. She has one dog namedTouchdown and four cats. Hobbies: Rachel loves singing! She also played basketball in high school, as well as softball. She loves her job at Shelby Center. Rachel Fillinger Education: Rachel is currently attending college at Union University and works during school breaks and holidays. Family/Pets: Rachel has one dog, an Australian Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix, seven years old. Hobbies: Rachel enjoys soccer Stephen Bean Education: Stephen is a high school graduate. He is also a certified taxidermist. Family/Pets: Stephen lives with his mother, father and a brother. He currently has no pets. Hobbies: Stephen enjoys music, art, reading and just hanging out with his friends. He also likes hiking and, of course, taxidermy. Toni McCarver Education:Toni is currently taking online classes from the University of Memphis. Family/Pets: Toni,along with her boyfriend Carl, are the parents to a sweet beagle named Scout. He is Toni's precious baby boy. Hobbies: Toni enjoys playing guitar, reading, writing, swimming, and of course playing with Scout. Lisa Ware Education: Lisa graduated from Horn Lake High School. She apprenticed with a retired show handler to learn grooming and has been grooming since 2001. Family/Pets: Lisa lives with Jerri Lee the German Shepherd, and Gus, a Doberman Pinscher. Both dogs participate in obedience and agility competitions. Gus also participates in conformation shows. Lisa also has three parrots and three ponies, plus a koi pond. Hobbies: Lisa's hobbies include training the dogs, cross-stitching, and maintaining a large shade garden, mainly Hostas. She has over two hundred Hostas and is always on the lookout for new varieties. Lorena Mooneyham Education: Lorena graduated from Nash Academy of Animal Arts in Lexington, Kentucky, in 2006. Family/Pets: Lorena shares her home with three rescued dogs, Jake, her sweet boy, Maggie, who has her mommy's heart, and Sophie, the squirrel terrorizer. Hobbies: Lorena has a passion for all dogs and enjoys gardening and traveling in her spare time. Radie Parson Education: Radie is a high school graduate and self-taught groomer, who has been grooming for 19 years. Family/Pets: Radie has two sons, Russell, 31, and Anthony, 13, in addition to her two grandchildren, Michael, 12 and Leah, four. She also has eighteen cats (ten are feral), three dogs and a guinea pig. Terese Sams Education: After high school, Terese attended Voc. Tech School for two years. She started a Dog Grooming Apprenticeship with her Mentor/Trainer, Daryl Conner, who is now a Master Pet Stylist, Emeritus. She attended a Grooming Seminar in Nashville, Spring 2001 and John Stazko's Grooming Seminar in Nashville in 1999. Family/Pets: Pippin, and Ivy Rose, who is a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel.
